Charlie Grice is an International Middle Distance Athlete from Brighton. At 22 he is the current and two times British 1500M Champion (outdoors and indoors) and competed for GB at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing this summer (2015) qualifying for the finals and coming a very impressive 9th place.
Charlie recently graduated from St Mary’s University and is now a full time athlete. He competes for Phoenix Athletics Club of Brighton founded by the legendary Steve Ovett. Over the past few years he has beaten several of Ovetts long standing records, some of which have stood unbroken for 30+ years. He’s one to watch for the future and Oatopia is more than happy to naturally fuel him to even greater success!
“I first got into running through football. I joined the cross-country running club when at primary school to help improve my endurance and stamina as I played in a central midfield position which involves having to do a lot of running around the pitch. As a kid I played many sports but I quickly found Athletics to be the most rewarding and challenging. Eventually I came to realise if I wanted to compete at a high level in athletics – not just take part but medal at the National Junior Championships – I had to focus and dedicate myself to running…
Fast forward to 2015…as I write this I am in Kenya training at high altitude as part of my preparations to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics in the 1500M. Whilst I already have the two qualifying times required, I still have to finish in the top 2 at the 2016 UK Championships in the summer to make selection.
It is great to be an ambassador for independent business based in my hometown and I use Oatopia’s products to help recovery between hard training sessions. They are very nutritious, providing slow release energy perfect for running and make an ideal healthy snack alternative to eating processed foods like biscuits and cereal bars. Oatopia’s products are so good that I have taken a supply all the way to Kenya to help me recover after training!”
